The Spirit of Being
By Lucas Whaley

To truly be an Odinist requires a commitment of so much and yet so very little. It begins with a stirring in the blood, a belief in our inner senses and a belief in the Gods - many who call themselves Odinist stop at this point, some never reach this point at all but those people are not true Odinists and by their lack of virtue make themselves as insignificant as a grain of sand on the beach.

The true Odinist is free, and this freedom is not merely the ability to wander where he chooses or to speak as he pleases but the commitment of freedom and to it. He is free from emotions which would chain him. Despair, no matter how deep, will not break him - for a tyrant can put a man in chains, physical or mental, until he breaks from despair of never being released and the tyrant is able of enslave the 'man.' A true Odinist does not fear death - for any man can threaten death and if such a threat bends a man then that man has become a slave - for the threat will always be held over him. No slave, no matter in what manner he attained his chains, can ever call himself free, he is subject to the will of another man and therefore the slave is not a man at all. So the first commitment is the commitment to freedom.

The true Odinist is noble. Not the nobleness of 'necessity' - the noble man is not made but is the maker of himself. The true Odinist strives for greater heights within himself and as he does he lifts up those around him. By not striving to better himself he is ignoble for he is not truly helping to better those around, he serves a bad example and may lead others astray. Stagnation is a blight upon the fields or prosperity - the noble man seeks to protect and nurture the prosperity of those around him. The second commitment is the commitment to nobility.

The true Odinist is devout, he is devoted to our people, our past, and our purpose. He is an Odinist and his devotion is what sets him apart from other virtuous men, the Odinist never forgets that all he is is in large part thanks to those who came before him and the honor that fills him till it pours from him is a monument to his devotion for his ancestors and our Gods. The true Odinist honors the Gods of our beginnings, the ancestors or our past, the people of our present, and the children of our future. The third commitment is the commitment to devotion.

True freedom, true nobility, and true devotion these make the true Odinist nothing less, though more is the be commended, those who have betrayed us by calling themselves Odinists and not living up to the commitments that are the Spirit of our being should be pruned from the tree of life to be put to better use as fertilizer for new growth.

Strength
By Fili Ichide Odinnsdrött, A.G. TOW

Whenever my Kindred Brothers and I discuss the Nine Noble Virtues, Strength, the first of the Nine, always seems to be the one that receives the most attention.

When one hears the word strength, one will naturally and automatically think of physical strength. Images of our Viking ancestors or even modern day body builders and strong men such as Magnus ver Magnusson or Eric "The Viking" Fromm might come to mind. Physical strength is definitely entailed; however, one does not have to be a power lifter or a body builder to be physically strong. Calisthenics will also strengthen the body. Personally, I do both. I do it for myself, but also to lead by example and motivate others of my Kindred to exercise, and it works.

But physical strength is not the only form of strength implied by this Noble Virtue. Strength of faith is also very important. How many Asatruar do you know who are only that in name and who really do not know anything at all? It is not due to a lack of available material. History provides us with several examples of our ancestors whose strength in faith clearly shined through, even at the cost of their lives. In the Saga of Óláf Tryggvason, there are three perfect examples. Queen Sigrith of Sweden denied to be baptized by King Óláf saying, "I do not mean to abandon the faith I have had, and my kinsmen before me." King Óláf became so angry that he slapped her face with his glove, to which she replied, "This may well be your death!"

Another example is that of Eyvind Kinnrifa who was accused by King Óláf and his men and was asked by the king to be baptized, but he refused, time and again. The king has a basin full of live coals placed on Eyvind's belly, and soon his belly burst. In his dying moments Eyvind requested that the basin be taken away so he could speak. The King asked him again if he believed in Christ, to which Eyvind said, "No, I can not accept and baptism. I am a spirit brought to life in human shape by the sorcery of Finns."

A final example, and probably the most widely known is that of Rauth the Strong, who refused to be baptized and become a Xtian. King Óláf had a snake forced down his throat, which gnawed it's way through his body, killing him, but Rauth remained steadfast in his Asatru faith. There are several examples of Strength of Faith in the Heimskringla.

In our day, one won't have a snake forced down his or her throat but some will have been arbitrarily and capriciously persecuted for our beliefs. They place us in administrative segregation, "the box" transfer us to other facilities, take our jobs or even steal our faith-related items, sometimes directly or while they are in the package room, although they will never admit it. As a result, at times some may think, "is it really worth it?" And even though some may, will and have bailed out, those of us who are Tru say boldly and defiantly, "Yes it is!" Think about it like this: Where would we be today if the Allsherjargodhi John Post did not feel it was worth it or of the others before him did not make a stand? Yes, Strength of Faith is of utmost importance.

Strength of Will is equally important. With so many negative influence around us, it takes a strong will not to engage in practices that are harmful to us as individuals, or as a collective. Primarily among these evil influences is the use of drugs. We all know people who smoke marijuana and say it is not a problem. I disagree. The use of any drug is harmful to the self as it slows your reflexes and thoughts and fills your body with alien substances that are not supposed to be there. And while I cannot say that our ancestors were clean and sober (and we all know they had a passion for mead), I can almost positively say that they were not using drugs. Furthermore, the money spent on drugs could much better be put towards purchasing books and other items that would give one a better understanding and knowledge of one's ancestral faith. I am no angel, with that fowl's feather's fettered I was, and when I think of all the money I wasted, it sickens me. But we all make mistakes and if we learn from them and better ourselves as a result, then it is a lesson well learned. Quitting drugs or cigarettes, or any of the other various harmful practices is no easy task and it takes a great deal of Strength of Will.

Strength in Knowledge and Wisdom is also very important. Anyone can recite from a book, but it is the power to intellectualize, rationalize and apply what you've read or having the ability to explain it to others that is important. This requires study. It also requires Strength of Faith and Strength of Will. And sad as it is to say, when you are in prison, you really do have a lot of time to study.

I could go on and on, but I think that I have gotten my point across that Strength is more that just physical. In closing, to all those who have stood and are standing strong, Heilsa to you for your Nobility.

I am an Odinist
By Lucas Whaley

I am an Odinist
by Lucas Whaley I am an odinist. I believe in the Gods of my ancestors and the virtues they teach me. I believe in my ancestry. I believe in my heritage. I believe in my people.

Among the virtues of my belief teaches me are stregth, courage and loyalty. My belief in my ancestors teaches me the continuity of the past to the future. My belief in my heritage rotts me in Midgard. My belief in my people fills me with purpose and direction.

To me, none of my brothers or sisters are dispensible, no ammount of failures can stop me from my attempt to teach the folk. Not all are strong, or courageous, or loyal, in fact some are none of these, but how can I turn from any of them when I know that all of these virtues and more reside in the folk passed to them from their ancestors and imbedded in their genetic code.

I am an Odinist. I am a man. I am of the Tru Folk. How could I, or any of us, in good faith, banish out unlearned bretheren?

I cannot.

On the Concepts of Good and Evil
By Lucas Whaley

The concepts of good and evil pervade not only our society but our world and our history. What is good? What is evil? At one time, some cultures considered natural disasters such as earthquakes and tornados to be "evil" or the work of an "evil" spirit. Today we understand the natural laws behind these phenomenon and no longer consider them "evil." So is it my point that what we don't understand we consider evil? No. There are a lot of things we cannot explain or don't understand that we don't consider "evil" - for example, few of us understand the workings of the mind or of the stars.

"Good" and "evil" are in the eye of the beholder, the basis depending on one's religion and the society one lives in or was raised in. However the very anture of "good" and "evil" brings a sense of pervading forces and many people base their convictions on these concepts. In accordance with the world's major religions, God is "good" and the Devil is "evil", and off of this we build. Can there be a God without the Devil? Well, can there be "good" without "evil"? No, there cannot, the reason being that without evil you would not recognize good, if it were the norm.

Since we are dealing with opposites, can there be white without black? Ground without sky? Of course there can. Only concepts cease to exist without their opposites, and concepts exist only in your mind. Therefore "good" and "evil" only exist as forces that are either beneficial to our health well being and beliefs or detrimental to them. "Good" and "evil" as most people believe them to be do not exist. That said, think about how that effecs the ideas behind "God" and the "Devil" ...

Hope for our Folk
by Lucas Whaley

It has come to my attention that many of my kinsmen have become frustrated by the actions of our brethren both within and outside of the walls. I see this frustration quickly developing into a sense of hopelessness for our folk.

First let me state some of the actions that are causing this growing sense of frustration and hopelessness among some of my kinsmen. Foremost on the list is the sad fact that much of our youth is falling prey to alien ideals and influence. Second is that many of brethren, both young and old, seem comfortable in their ignorance of our ancestral ways and pride. Then of course is the concern of the seeming impossibility of our quest to awaken these people. This is but a short list meant only to illustrate the types of concerns from which this frustration and hopelessness stem.

As with all problems, we must either come up with a solution or learn to live with the problem. I propose a solution.

Allow me to begin by explaining the philosophy I often speak about with my kindred, namely that our folk need warriors not soldiers. The first difference between the two being that a soldier is told when to fight and a warrior knows when to. The importance of which is immediately obvious to the huge number of us that hold independence and freedom in the highest regard. Another difference is that soldiers are told only what they need to know to complete their mission. You can spout all you want that our ancestral ways are better than those of the modern world and in all probability you'll find people that will listen, however how much harder is your quest to awaken people if you don't know why? And how can you know why without knowing the history of our ancestors and the workings of not only their culture but also the cultures of today?

How, you may ask, does all of this pertain to the concerns and feelings of hopelessness I outlined above? Well the answer is this: If there are situations and actions which frustrate you or leave you with a sense of hopelessness then take steps to change them, And that, like many great solutions, is as easy as that. Hopelessness is a deadly cancer that if left unchecked will spread like wildfire from brother to brother and from teacher to student. However Hope is a virtue that spreads just as quickly raising morale where once all was lost and making victory not only possible but probable.

No task is too monumental for those who choose to brave the storm. You either want to stand on the front line of you don't, the choice is yours. Simply put, you're either a coward or you aren't.

Don't get me wrong, we all have moments of doubt, but so long as we use those moments to strengthen our faith and resolve ad not use them as an excuse to become disheartened; then we are truly worthy to call ourselves Tru Folk.

On The Importance of Education
By Lucas Whaley

We all realize that education is the way to awaken the Aryan people to our indigenous religion, but it is my belief that few understand the true importance of education. Specifically, Self-Education.

The point and reason of a revolution, whether it be religious, political or other, is to correct mistakes, right wrongs, and improve your quality of life and that of your children.

Imagine the quality of life in an educated society, as opposed to a society without schools or books. Education improves one's quality of life, therefore it is not a tool or a weapon of the movement - it is the movement. Battles and wars are merely effects of the movement. Those are the tools by which our educated warriors can further and secure the goals of correcting mistakes, righting wrongs and improving our quality of life.

From a purely religious standpoint, to honor the High Gods is not enough. The Gods are not merely divine entities, they are our ancestors and therefore are a part of our unique genetic code. Study of the Sagas and Poetic Eddas is a study not only of history and literature, but of yourself - a deeply hidden and largely ignored piece of yourself.

The faith of Asatru has little to do with worship. The Gods of our folk are archetypes, models which we endeavor to emulate. How can we truly understand our archetypal Gods and the virtues they reveal to us without study of them and our ancestors?

Far too many of our so called "Folk" lack discipline and moral strength. Would Thor openly lust after women? Would Wotan waste precious watching game shows when he could use them to study or meditate? Would Tyr lay about uselessly instead of preparing for the inevitable battle? Of course not, And neither should we.

Too many have forgotten what it truly means to be Folk. Too many have either forgotten or never learned that the highest virtue of the Asatruar is to strive to BE AS THE GODS.

Pride and The Warrior Spirit
by Lucas Whaley

There is a lot of dabate in the Asatru / Odionist / Wotanist (henceforth refered to as Odinist Community) about what I'll call the Hate Issue. To clarify, the Hate Issue is about what is commonly referred to as racism.

Odinists that are opponents of racisim commonly argue that it is possible to have pride in our heritage and our people without hating other races. An interesting point. They also point to the various marriages between Gods and Front Giants as well as the diplomatic marriages of Attila the Hun.

By society's standards these are noble people standing against a violent tde of racism. I disagree.

True Pride entails many things, not just a knowledge of your heritage but also a willingness to defend that heritage for your present folk as well as future generations.

Warious alien groups throughout our land teach their members such things as killing five blond-haired devils wins them a free trip to Mecca. Or that whites are imperfect genetic constructs by an evil scientist. Some may argue that these groups make up a small percentage of the non-whites in this country, they may be right. I've never had the opportunity to check their numbers.

However, I will assume they are right for the sake of argument. Even so this small percentage is a danger to our folk and our heritage, and so are our enemies. You can argue all you like against the Warrior Spirit, even rip off facts such as how these warriors were a drain on society, ou can even show me how small a role the warrior tradition plays in our overall heritage. However, it doesn't change the fact that our ancestors had a very long and noble tradition of smashing what threatened them and their way of life - not because it was divinly inspired, but because it was practical and it still is today.

Many of you are now thinking hate breeeds hate, and while this is true, what are you to do about someone who hates you? Stay away from him? He will find others and teach them until some day there will be nowhere to run to - but by then it will be too late. Try to teach him differently? The sad fact is not everyone can be reached, lets be honest, if someone hates you why would they want to hear what you have to say? Why would they see anything but the bad in your actions? But even if you do reach some of these people what about the others creeping up behind you while you are "reforming" your enemy?

And as for the pacifists out there - even if you could change almost everyone, even all but one, with your "shining" example, it would only take that one to wipe you all out.

Well some of you may now argue that there is no reason to hate al people of a race based on a small percentage who wish us harm. Well think about this - as we combat this small percentage we almost assuredly do harm to someones family and by out own traditions we should expect them to seek compensation or vengeance. In today's world an attack on the small percentage would be percieved by the rest as an attack on the whole and not anticipating that could have disatrous consequences.

Yes, one bad apple can uin the bunch, it may not be right or fair, bit it is the way it works. So we can allow ourselves to be swept away in the name of cultural diversity and enlightenment or we can fight, persevere, preserve and survivie as is practical - and our ancestors have taught us nothing if not to be practical.

And as for the intermarriages in our Eddas and Sagas - Frey's marriage to Gerd led to disaster as did catering to Attila. Part of being advancing people is learning from our mistakes, only in this way may we make our heritage stonger for our children than when we received it.

Essay on Loki
By Gunner

After careful consideration on which God or Goddess in which to write this essay about I have deicded to base this essay on the God Loki. I made this decision due to my own curiosity as to what dictates the outcome of good nad evil in men, and in this case Gods. As we are attached to the Gods by the ancestral blood or our race and the manifestation or racial and ethnic spirit, I have felt the need to expand the possibilities that could determine the nature of Ayran Man. In my humble opinion, after reading many stories and myths of the God Loki, it is my interpretation that in his very essence Loki represents not just plain evil in the primal or base essence of right and wrong, but also the necessary evil that dictates the differences of the moral sense of right and wrong in individuals of the Aryan race.

Like most men and Gods, Loki was a very complex character. I say this because at times he did very noble and honorable deeds. One example that stands out most to me is how Loki helped a family to keep their son whom they were supposed to surrender to a giant. Loki hid the boy from his pursuer and the boy was returned to his family. Not only was his deed honorable, it also made him revered amoung the people of that area.

While it is true that he also committed dishonourable acts such as the stealing of Freyja's necklace and the shearing of Sif's hair, he always attempted and usually succeeded at making reparations to those he had harmed.

After many readings on Loki it has become apparent to me that he was a steady friend and companion to Thor (thunder). Loki (lightning) and Thor were companions in many adventures. This again brought me to ponder yet another question. If Thor, being though or as a noble and honorable God and Loki represents evil, does the realtionship that they had interpret the balance of good nad evil and how they necesitate each other? In that question I would say that yes I believe this is the case or at least one rational interpretation.

After reading and asking these questions about Loki it has given me a more widely perceived view of how evil and evil beings are not only needed but also how they play such a large part of our history. After all, wasn't it Loki who caused the blood of man to become warm and give him passion?

I have come of the opinion that Loki lives in all Aryan man. Good man sometimes do evil deeds yet it does not change the worth of the man, and some evil men do noble deeds yet the evil that they are does not change the goodness of the deed. Therein a balance in created.

As men we are judged by our deeds and they determine how we are preceived by other men. Therefore I ask, without Loki, and his various deeds, could we measure good from evil nad understand the balance in our folks own way? That is why Loki, to me, is the essance of necessary evil.

A Message to Aryan Men and Women
James Salas Brenton

What is a more heinous act? Destoying a race / culture or letting your own culture, the most superior race on the planet, be destroyed? Even with your own hand committing slow racial genocide, sitting idly by while on the brink of extinction, letting inferior races bully you and guilt you into submission. Wake up White America! Sometimes I think to myself, "Why am I fighting for people who don't want to fight for themselves?" There is only one answer: Love, love for my folk, love for my future children for whom I wnt nothing less than the best of privelages. My family should feel safe to walk along the streets at night without fear of an ignorant black thug robbing, raping or killing them.

We have a government by the people for the people, it is run by the masses but the question is, who controls the masses? If you look at the mass media you will see who is really in control. ZOG, Zionist Occupational Covernment, started and controlled by Jews, for Jews.

There are the people that ruin our streets. These are the people who instill a guilt complex into Aryan folk everywhere. These are the people who have the US government pumping billions of dollars out of our pockets and into Israel's defense budget, which caused Terrorist retaliation on the Us (9/11). Their hands are stained with the blood of millions, billions of Aryan men women and children throughtout the history of their vicious regime of multiculturalism, decadence and genocide. Yes, genocide. It is slow but if we let it go on we will be a mix of monkeys with no culture, ancestral pride or real homeland. Do you want that for your future generations? Wake up America and Hail the new dawn!

Turn the Other Cheek
James Salas Brenton

"Turn the other cheek"
"The meek shall inherit the earth"

Two phrases to turn people into scared, cowardly and easily subjugated people. What happened to the race that once had dreams of Valhalla? Whatever happened to the ancestral pride, in making a mark, living nobly and courageously? Where did we go wrong? Why did we accept this Judeo-Christian morality (which is not moral at all)? I'll answer that, we forgot how hard our ancestors fought for our Folk's gods, how many lives were given to prevent alien gods from infecting us with morals and values that were created by another race, not by ours, not for the betterment of our people but for their people to advance. Why Yahweh, Jesus, Allah, etc? Why not Odin, Thor, Balder, Frey? Why were our ancestral gods stripped from us and replaced with gods from other cultures? And the real question is why not take them back? Why can't we take back what was once stolen? But we can! All Aryan families should want to worship to Gods of old, the blood that flows through your veins will say the same thing. Why settle for something alien when you can have what your ancestors have died for, to worship the gods of old, the sun and nature. Please listen to me, do not be brainwashed by churches and media. I ask of you, Aryan Folk everywhere, please research your ancestry, your tru gods, and see if your blood calls out for it. You will not be disappointed. Live a great life, die a great death. Hail the Aesir and Vanir.
